Isolation

Walking through empty beaches and parks just doesn’t feel right. After a trip to Spain’s Costa del Sol during the winter, a sense of being alone started to appear in my photos.
Especially those depicting the sea. I had always found the sea to be intimidating. So vast and empty. I think the busy crowds on the beach always provided a balance. But take away these crowds and something just doesn’t feel right.
A bit like the empty streets pictured during covid’s isolation.

I decided to include the version with the birds.
Their moving presence adds to the isolation felt by the tower. No-one or thing stays forever.
The many benches, trees, lifeguard towers and other items left behind felt alone. They had no one.

Even the palm trees feel alone in the vast landscape. The mountains in the background only adding to this sensation of space.
The number of bins only adds to this sensation or something missing. Where are the people?

I think the next image is one of the most impactful. The height adds a new dimension not felt in the others.
We gain a new insight into how vast the space of nothing really is.

All the images now available from my store.
Thank you.
